A rideshare crash file should identify each person’s role and the driver’s app status at the relevant time. A passenger trip, an available driver waiting for a request, and a driver transporting a private acquaintance can involve different facts and insurance questions. The rideshare file should preserve the trip record, app status, driver and vehicle […]
A car accident claim should move by completed evidence gates, not by a generic calendar. Reporting, vehicle inspection, treatment records, coverage investigation, wage documentation, lien review, evaluation, negotiation, and release review may overlap or require later correction.
Each claim stage should identify required inputs, responsible person, completion evidence, unresolved issues, decision made, and the record that supports moving forward.
Use stage gates instead of a loose folder
- Event and report: identities, witnesses, photographs, video, crash report, correction questions, and preservation requests
- Coverage and property: policies, claims, reservations, estimates, repair or value, towing, storage, rental, and payment status
- Injury and loss: records, itemized bills, payment ledger, restrictions, wage records, function, future issues, and repayment claims
- Resolution: issue summary, supporting record index, offer and response history, release terms, lien or reimbursement status, and final accounting
Do not close a stage while a material input is unknown
A claim can be evaluated with uncertainty, but the uncertainty should be named. Use “not received,” “disputed,” or “not applicable” instead of leaving a blank that could be mistaken for zero.
Use official records for the questions they can answer

A multi-vehicle crash may contain several separate contacts and several insurance investigations. One driver may cause the first impact while a later driver contributes to a different contact. The file should not collapse every vehicle, statement, and policy into one narrative. The evidence matrix should give each vehicle its own identity, driver, owner, insurer, movement, […]
A turning crash may involve a left turn, right turn, U-turn, merge, driveway entry, lane change, pedestrian crossing, or more than one movement. Right of way depends on the actual roadway controls and sequence, so the file should begin with a diagram and time sources. The intersection file should map each road user’s approach, lane, […]
There is no single settlement formula that can accurately value every car accident claim. Evaluation depends on responsibility and defenses, available coverage and collectability, injury evidence, medical and other expenses, income effects, future issues, prior conditions, and the terms required to resolve the claim. A defensible evaluation connects every claimed item to a source record, […]
