Goldsboro, NC (May 27, 2024) - According to local news sources, a 58-year-old man is in critical condition following a hit-and-run incident on Monday afternoon. The Goldsboro Police Department reports that officers were dispatched to 1001 North Spence Avenue at approximately 1:43 p.m. in response to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers learned from multiple witness reports that the suspect had fled the scene. A thorough search of the surrounding area led to the quick apprehension of the suspect, identified as a 16-year-old juvenile from Goldsboro. The suspect faces several charges, including hit-and-run, failure to report an accident, careless and reckless driving, improper turn, and unsafe tires.

The victim, Christopher Hare, 58, of Goldsboro, was initially transported to UNC Health Wayne and later airlifted to ECU Health in Greenville due to the severity of his injuries. Hare remains in critical condition as the investigation continues.
