Albemarle, NC (January 10, 2023) - It is with great sadness that we report on a recent fatal car accident that occurred on N.C. Highway 24-27 east of Albemarle. The accident involved four vehicles and resulted in the tragic loss of 18-year-old Pfeiffer University student, Lili Jane Taylor.
According to reports from the N.C. Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the driver of a dump truck, Steven Pruitt, went left of the center line and sideswiped a commercial vehicle in front of Taylor's Cadillac Escalade. The F-550 dump truck then continued west in the eastbound lane and collided with the left front quarter of the Escalade. Taylor died as a result of the collision on the scene, and Pruitt was taken to Atrium Health Stanly with minor injuries and charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
