Charlotte, NC (March 25, 2023) - According to local news sources, a man has died after a three-car collision occurred at a west Charlotte intersection when a driver ran a red light. The tragic accident took place on March 25 at Wilkinson Boulevard and Morris Field Drive.
Local media reports indicate that Terence McBride, driving a 2008 Ford Edge, failed to stop at a red light on Morris Field Drive, causing a collision with a 2019 Toyota Corolla (Yellow Cab) and a 2009 Nissan Altima. The impact caused the Corolla to slide and strike the right side of the Nissan, flipping in the process.
The occupants of the Corolla, Leon Daniels and an unidentified woman, suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to Atrium Main for treatment. Sadly, Daniels succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday March 29, 2023. The Nissan driver declined to be taken to the hospital, while McBride, the Ford driver, suffered minor injuries.
McBride was cited for driving with a suspended license, having an expired registration, and driving with no vehicle insurance. After Daniels' passing, detectives obtained a misdemeanor death by vehicle arrest warrant for McBride.
As the investigation into the crash continues, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department urges anyone with information or who witnessed the accident to call Det. Mercedes at 704-432-2169, extension 5. Information can also be left anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
