Davidson County, NC (January 25, 2023) - On Wednesday afternoon in Davidson County, a 30-year-old woman from Lexington lost her life in a head-on collision on N.C. Highway 8 in Southmont. This marks the fourth fatal accident in the county in just one month where a driver went left of center and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
According to Trooper Ned Moultrie of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the car accident occurred at 2:49 p.m. on Wednesday January 26. A 2002 Chrysler passenger vehicle, driven by 30 year old Lexington, NC resident Alexandria Dawn Espinoza, hydroplaned and crossed the centerline, crashing into a Dodge pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.
Sadly, Espinoza was pronounced dead at the scene. A 4-year-old child in the vehicle, secured in a child seat, was transported to Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Dodge, Roger Hollingsworth of Lexington, was also injured but expected to recover.
Moultrie stated that unsafe tires on the Chrysler and Espinoza's failure to wear a seatbelt were contributing factors in the accident. This latest incident is just one of four fatal head-on collisions in Davidson County in the past three weeks, a disturbing trend that has residents on edge. It's a stark reminder of the importance of safe driving practices.
Why You Need a Car Accident Lawyer
After a car accident, you may be dealing with physical injuries, emotional trauma, and financial losses. You may be wondering how to pay for your medical expenses, how to get your car repaired, and how to make ends meet while you're recovering from your injuries. That's where a Charlotte car accident lawyer becomes helpful.
A car accident lawyer can help you navigate the complex legal process and fight for the compensation you deserve. They can help you understand your rights and options, and they can help you build a strong case to prove liability and damages.
Investigating the Accident
One of the most important things a car accident lawyer can do is investigate the accident. This includes collecting and analyzing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working with experts to reconstruct the accident. This information can be used to prove who was at fault and how the accident happened.
Negotiating with Insurance Companies
Insurance companies are in the business of making money, not paying out claims. They may try to lowball your settlement offer, or they may deny your claim altogether. A car accident lawyer can help you negotiate with the insurance company and fight for the compensation you deserve.
Representing You in Court
If the insurance company refuses to settle your claim or if you're not satisfied with the settlement offer, your car accident lawyer can represent you in court. They can help you prepare for trial, present evidence, and argue your case in front of a judge or jury.
