University City, NC (May 12, 2023) - Local news outlets report a driver is facing charges after crashing into an ambulance and injuring multiple people, including two paramedics, in University City. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Tryon Street and West Mallard Creek Church Road.

Medic Unit 62 had initially responded to an unrelated crash involving an SUV and a black car. While paramedics were treating a patient from the first accident, 19-year-old Brian Ogbonna allegedly ran a red light and crashed his 2016 black Nissan Altima into the parked ambulance.
