Salisbury, NC (May 24, 2024) - According to local news sources, a wreck involving an overturned tractor-trailer occurred on an exit ramp from I-85 South to Innes Street/US-52 near downtown Salisbury on Friday morning. The accident happened around 7:12 a.m. and has resulted in significant road closures.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) reported that the crash occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. on the ramp from southbound I-85 to Innes Street/US-52. Initially, the ramp was expected to be closed until about 11 a.m., but this estimate was later extended to 2 p.m. The exact circumstances of the accident remain unclear, and it is not yet known if there were any injuries.

Traffic is being detoured onto northbound Innes Street. Drivers heading towards southbound US-52 towards Granite Quarry are advised to use Exit 75 for Jake Alexander Boulevard, turn east onto Jake Alexander, and follow the road to US-52.
