Selma, NC (August 01, 2026) - Local reports confirmed that a Tractor Supply employee suffered serious injuries when a utility terrain vehicle overturned behind the company’s store at 1401 S. Pollock Street. The accident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. Saturday.
Selma police officers found an adult woman injured beside the overturned UTV. Johnston County EMS transported her to WakeMed with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening. Selma Fire personnel also assisted at the scene.
According to the preliminary police investigation, a male Tractor Supply employee was driving the UTV while the injured woman rode as a passenger. The employees were reportedly moving the vehicle through the parking lot when the driver began engaging in what Selma Police Chief Justin Vause described as “horseplay.”
Police said the driver took the UTV behind the business and operated it carelessly, causing the vehicle to overturn. Officers cited the male employee for reckless driving.
Authorities have not released the names of either employee. The investigation remains ongoing.
Reviewing The Process After A Workplace UTV Accident
Although the reported sequence of events may appear direct, a workplace vehicle accident can raise several separate administrative and legal questions. Investigators may review witness accounts, photographs, surveillance footage, vehicle condition, workplace procedures, and other available evidence to determine how the rollover occurred.
Medical records, employer documentation, incident reports, and insurance information may also affect how a claim is evaluated. Speaking with a workplace injury claim attorney can help an injured employee understand how these records relate to workers’ compensation benefits and any additional issues presented by the accident.
A traffic citation or police finding does not necessarily resolve every question involved in a civil or workers’ compensation review. Each process applies its own standards, making careful examination of the official records and employment circumstances important.
