Goldsboro, NC (June 16, 2026) - As reported by local news sources and police statements, two people were hospitalized after a crash with injuries on US-70 West in Goldsboro on Tuesday night. Goldsboro police responded at about 10:42 p.m. to the 1200 block of US-70 West after receiving a report of a two-vehicle collision.

According to police, the crash involved 20-year-old NyAsia Faison and 20-year-old Jareyon Powell. Investigators reported that Powell was driving a 2003 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle and Faison was driving a 2012 Chevrolet passenger car westbound on US-70. Police said the incident stemmed from a domestic-related argument and that Powell allegedly chased Faison before striking the rear left corner of her vehicle.

Reports stated that Faison lost control after the impact, left the roadway, struck a guardrail on the right side of the highway, and came to a stop near the center median by a cable guardrail. Powell also lost control of his vehicle, which rolled over. Police reported that Powell was ejected during the rollover. One report stated Powell was traveling about 80 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Both Faison and Powell were taken to UNC Health Wayne with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Powell was later transported by ambulance to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for additional medical care.

Goldsboro police said warrants were obtained charging Powell with first-degree attempted murder, driving while impaired, driving after consuming alcohol while under age 21, interfering with emergency communications, reckless driving, and driving while license revoked due to an impaired-driving revocation. Later reports stated Powell was arrested after receiving medical treatment and booked into the Pitt County Jail without bond.

The vehicles involved were both reported to have sustained about $15,000 in estimated damage and were not drivable. Reports also stated that a state-owned cable guardrail sustained an estimated $500 in damage. Police continued to describe the matter as an intentional crash connected to a domestic disturbance, based on their investigation.
