Durham, NC (January 27, 2026) - Information for this report was obtained from local news sources and statements released by the Durham Police Department following a fatal crash in North Durham. Authorities say two young men lost their lives after a hit and run incident that led to a high speed single vehicle collision late Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the incident began around 5 p.m. on Hebron Road when a 2015 Ford Explorer driven by 22 year old Jordon Jones of Durham struck another vehicle. Investigators say Jones did not remain at the scene and instead continued driving away. Just minutes later, the Explorer was traveling along the 4700 block of Denfield Street when it crossed into the opposite lane, ran off the left side of the roadway, and crashed into a tree.

Police confirmed that excessive speed was a factor in the crash. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. His back seat passenger, 20 year old Kymarion Williams of Durham, also suffered fatal injuries and died as a result of the collision.
