Pitt County, NC (June 01, 2026) - Based on reports from local authorities and local news sources, two people were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Highway-11 south of Winterville on Monday morning. The crash happened at about 11:50 a.m. and led to the closure of both northbound lanes for approximately 90 minutes.

Troopers reported that the car was traveling south when it lost control, rolled over several times, and came to rest on its wheels in the northbound lanes. The passenger, identified in court records as 21-year-old Bahia Thomas, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries, including head trauma. Reports stated that Thomas was admitted to the ICU after the crash.

The driver, identified as 44-year-old Jaquana Boykins, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to ECU Health Medical Center. Troopers reported that Boykins was later charged with DWI, felony serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving to endanger, unsafe tires, and no operator’s license. Records also indicated that she refused a breath test and later posted a $50,000 bond after being taken to the Pitt County Jail.

The Highway Patrol continued reviewing the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities did not report involvement of any other vehicles in the collision.

How Crash Reviews And Insurance Questions Can Develop After A Serious Collision

After a serious traffic crash, the first stage often involves sorting through the basic facts, including where the vehicle was traveling, how the crash occurred, what injuries were reported, and what official records may later show. Investigators may review roadway conditions, vehicle condition, witness information, medical transport details, and any charges or citations connected to the incident.

In a car accident, insurance coverage questions can also develop as medical treatment continues and more information becomes available. People affected by a crash may need to understand how reports, medical records, and policy details fit together, which is where a car accident lawyer help can provide a clearer look at the process without assuming what the final outcome will be.

These reviews often move through several administrative steps before any claim is resolved. Medical documentation, crash reports, repair records, and communications with insurers can all affect how the matter is evaluated, especially when serious injuries and disputed issues are involved.
