Apex, NC (June 13, 2026) - As per local news reporting and statements from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, three people were killed and a fourth person was seriously injured in a single-car crash early Saturday morning on US-1 in southern Wake County.
Troopers said the crash was reported just after 12:28 a.m. on the northbound side of US-1 near Friendship Road, between Friendship Road and NC-540 Toll, southwest of Apex. When authorities arrived, they found that a 2014 Infiniti Q50 sedan had been involved in a rollover crash with four occupants inside.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Infiniti was traveling north at a high speed when the driver lost control. Troopers said the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned multiple times. Investigators identified speed as a primary contributing factor in the crash.
The driver, Darius Josiah Stevens, 21, of Spring Lake, died at the scene. The front passenger, Ricky Rosas, 20, was also killed. A left rear passenger, Marion Kim, 19, of Jacinto, California, died as well. Local reports stated that the occupants were stationed at Fort Bragg.
A fourth occupant, identified in one report as Luis Feliciano, 22, of Laredo, Texas, was taken to WakeMed Raleigh Campus with serious injuries. Other reports described his condition as critical or serious but stable after the crash.
Reports differed on some restraint details, but an updated account from troopers stated that Stevens was properly restrained, while Rosas and Kim were unrestrained and ejected during the crash. The right rear passenger was reported to have been properly restrained and transported for medical care.
Troopers said there was no immediate indication of impairment, although authorities noted that further review, including an autopsy, would be needed. The crash remains under investigation by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
What Families Often Face After An Apex Car Accident
As additional information develops after a serious roadway crash, the focus often moves from the initial report to the steps that help explain what happened. Investigators may review the vehicle path, roadway conditions, occupant positions, restraint use, witness accounts, medical findings, and any available physical evidence before final conclusions are reached.
In a car accident involving severe injuries or fatalities, different agencies and insurance representatives may review the same event for different purposes. A skilled car accident attorney can help explain how those reviews may relate to injury claims, insurance questions, and the documentation families may need as the process continues.
North Carolina law can make the evaluation of civil responsibility especially fact dependent. Small details, including timing, vehicle control, passenger placement, and evidence gathered at the scene, may affect how an incident is assessed through insurance and legal channels.
