Clinton, NC (January 23, 2026) - Information received from multiple news sources confirms that two teenagers were killed Friday morning in a serious head on collision involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer on North Carolina Highway 24 in Sampson County.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 10:40 a.m. to 10:42 a.m. on NC Highway 24 approximately 1.9 miles east of Clinton. Authorities reported that a gray 2015 Honda Accord was traveling westbound when the driver attempted to pass another vehicle, identified as a Toyota truck. During the passing maneuver, the Honda traveled off the left side of the roadway.

Troopers stated that after leaving the roadway, the Honda reentered traffic but lost control. The vehicle crossed the center line into the eastbound lane and collided head on with a 2025 International tractor trailer that was pulling a trailer.
