Asheville, NC (September 08, 2025) - According to local news reports, a deadly crash occurred in the 1500 block of Patton Avenue in west Asheville just after 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8. The accident resulted in the death of a local woman and led to criminal charges against the driver police believe caused the collision.

Authorities confirmed that 32-year-old Tamara Eldridge of Asheville was a rear passenger in a 2004 Lexus RX330 SUV when the vehicle was struck head-on by a 2016 GMC Sierra pickup truck. The preliminary investigation revealed that the pickup, driven by 35-year-old Adam Christopher Kane, was traveling westbound on Patton Avenue when it crossed the center line and crashed into the eastbound Lexus. Following the initial impact, a 2012 Volvo S60 sedan, also traveling eastbound, collided with the rear of the Lexus.

Eldridge sustained critical injuries in the crash and was transported to Mission Hospital. Despite medical efforts, she later died from her injuries. Kane suffered minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. No further injuries were reported in connection with the Volvo sedan.

As a result of the incident, Kane has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, driving left of center, expired registration, and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was arrested and booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility. His bond was set at \$6,000, which he later posted.

The Asheville Police Department is continuing its investigation and is asking for the public's help. Individuals with information related to the crash can contact APD or submit tips anonymously using the TIP2APD app or text service.
