Mooresville, NC (June 6, 2024) - According to local news sources, a high-speed police chase in Mooresville ended in a crash on Interstate 77, resulting in the arrest of four suspects linked to over 30 vehicle break-ins. The incident began early Thursday morning when Mooresville Police responded to a report of car break-ins at the Legacy Village apartments around 4:30 a.m.

Officers arriving at the scene observed four individuals fleeing the complex in a stolen 2018 Audi. The police pursued the suspects until the vehicle broke down near the Mooresville Golf Course, prompting the suspects to abandon the car and flee on foot. While searching the nearby woods, officers noted three suspects leaving the area in a stolen Kia.

The pursuit continued at high speed towards I-77, where the driver of the stolen Kia lost control on the on-ramp and crashed. All three suspects were apprehended and transported to Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. The fourth suspect was found in the woods near the initial chase location and was also taken into custody.

During the arrests, a Mooresville officer suffered a head injury but was treated and released from the hospital. Investigators confirmed that the suspects are linked to over 30 car break-ins, three stolen vehicles, and stolen firearms, which have been recovered. The identities of the suspects and specific charges have not been disclosed as the investigation remains active.
