The Mount Airy News reported that on Wednesday, Moore fled law enforcement after being involved in a multi-vehicle crash during a high-speed chase in the Flat Rock area, about 150 miles northwest of Fayetteville. According to reports, two people were seen fleeing the vehicle, with one suspect captured and Moore attempting to escape towards the Virginia state line. It was during this chase that Moore was found by a police K-9 unit, Draco, who later tragically lost his life in the line of duty.
The Mount Airy Police Department confirmed on social media that K-9 Draco was fatally shot by Moore while attempting to apprehend him. "K9 Draco died a HERO and will be deeply missed," police said in a public post.
