Southport, NC (June 6, 2024) - According to local news reports, Southport police responded to two separate crashes on Thursday, June 6, along River Road SE.

As per the Southport Police Department, the first incident occurred just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of Dosher Cutoff SE and River Road SE. This single-vehicle crash resulted in a vehicle fire. Emergency crews closed roads in the area while they worked to clear the scene. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating this crash, with more details expected to be released soon.

Later in the day, at around 6:30 p.m., a two-car crash was reported at the intersection of N Howe Street and River Road SE/Robert Ruark Drive SE. Minor injuries were reported, and those injured were treated on-site by EMS. Traffic was diverted around the intersection until the scene was cleared at approximately 7:45 p.m.
