Southern Pines, NC (October 09, 2026) - Three people were transported to the hospital after a three-vehicle collision Friday afternoon at Voit Gilmore Road and U.S. 15-501 in Southern Pines, Moore County, North Carolina.
Authorities at the scene said the vehicles were heading southeast at the traffic light when a Dodge rear-ended a Toyota Highlander, pushing it into a Honda CRV. The collision caused the CRV to spin and come to rest behind the Highlander.
An adult and a child riding in the CRV were transported, along with the Dodge’s sole occupant. The Highlander’s sole occupant was not transported. The severity of the injuries was not reported.
All three vehicles sustained moderate to heavy damage. Traffic on U.S. 15-501 backed up and moved slowly past the scene while crews cleared the wreckage. Traffic approaching from Voit Gilmore Road was rerouted.
The Southern Pines Fire Department, Southern Pines Police Department, Moore County EMS and Rockwell Towing responded. The collision was reported as the intersection’s third significant crash in three weeks.
Separating the Impacts From Final Vehicle Positions
A useful account of a chain collision separates remembered impacts from where the vehicles ended up. In this crash, authorities described the Honda CRV being struck and spinning behind the Highlander. Its final position therefore did not show its place before the collision. Someone explaining a similar event should describe those stages separately rather than work backward from the vehicles’ resting positions.
Begin with what you personally saw, heard or felt. Distinguish a contact you witnessed from a jolt you felt without seeing which vehicles touched. If you noticed a vehicle’s position only after getting out, say so.
When discussing that account with an auto accident settlement lawyer, identify which details came from someone else afterward. An officer’s explanation may describe movements outside your view, but repeating it as something you witnessed would blur two different sources of information. Keeping them separate allows your own observations to contribute without suggesting that you saw the entire collision.
This distinction matters because an insurance adjuster assesses negligence, not simply the order in which vehicles appear in an aftermath photograph. Contact order helps explain the physical event, while responsibility requires consideration of the conduct that caused it. A clear account helps identify what is known about each impact without assigning blame from vehicle placement alone.
Raising Treatment Expense Questions Before Every Detail Is Clear
Someone facing treatment expenses after a chain collision does not need to reconstruct every impact before asking about a possible claim. Additional information about vehicle movements may affect how an accident claim changes over time, while the person’s firsthand recollection remains a separate part of the account.
A conversation with Rosensteel Fleishman can help clarify whether a claim may be available and whether it could address accident-related hospital or doctor bills, subject to responsibility and applicable coverage. Start with the care received and the expenses causing concern. You can explain what you remember without filling in what you do not know.
