Newport, NC (August 21, 2026) - Local news reports state that six people were taken to Carteret Health Care after a head-on crash on Sam Garner Road at about 5:00 p.m.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, one vehicle was traveling north and another was traveling south when the northbound vehicle crossed left of center and collided with the southbound vehicle.
