Greensboro, NC (September 25, 2026) - Ramiro Juarez-Calat, 34, of Greensboro, died at the scene after a Volkswagen Tiguan struck him at the intersection of West Gate City Boulevard and West Meadowview Road on Friday night.

According to Greensboro Police, Pierre Twaibu, 28, of Greensboro, was driving the Volkswagen east on West Gate City Boulevard when he crossed left of center, left the roadway and struck Juarez-Calat. Police described Juarez-Calat as walking on the sidewalk.

Greensboro Police, Greensboro Fire and Guilford County EMS responded at approximately 9:54 p.m. Twaibu suffered injuries police described as minor and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Police reported that Twaibu was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, driving left of center and a seatbelt violation.

West Gate City Boulevard was closed in both directions at West Meadowview Road during the initial investigation. In their initial account, police said the Greensboro Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit was handling the ongoing investigation.
