Matthews, NC (June 3, 2024) - According to local news sources, a tragic incident occurred Monday morning near Matthews. Mehmet Bagci, 75, was struck by a car on McKee Road at Hampstead Pond Lane in south Charlotte around 8:15 a.m. Paramedics responded swiftly, transporting the individual to a Charlotte hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed that the individual succumbed to their injuries around 10 a.m.

In a separate report, the crash was noted to have occurred around 9:45 a.m. near Pleasant Plains Road. Due to the incident, McKee Road was closed in both directions as authorities conducted their investigation, and travelers were advised to seek alternate routes. The Matthews Police Department has yet to release further details regarding the cause of the accident or any potential charges.

Mr. Bagci’s next of kin has been notified of this death.
