Charlotte, NC (May 20, 2024) — According to local news, Park Road southbound lanes were closed Monday afternoon following a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian, Mecklenburg County authorities reported. The N.C. Department of Transportation confirmed the incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. near the intersection of Park and Heather Lane, close to Park Road Shopping Center.

According to Medic, the victim was transported with life-threatening injuries. By 4:45 p.m., traffic was backed up on Park Road to Marsh Road, and the scene was expected to be cleared by 5:20 p.m. The exact nature of the accident or the total number of injuries remains unclear.

A report mentioned that the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle just after 4 p.m. between Holmes Drive and Heather Lane. Several Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department patrol units were seen blocking a lane near an SUV, while Medic confirmed the victim had life-threatening injuries but provided no further details about the individual.
