Polk County, NC (August 30, 2026) - Local reports indicate that Maggie Hill, 90, of Gaffney, South Carolina, died after a two-vehicle collision at NC-108 and Post Office Road. The crash occurred around 4:20 p.m. Sunday and sent all five occupants of the vehicles to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a Toyota RAV4 carrying three people was traveling east on NC-108 while a Volkswagen Jetta carrying two people was traveling west. Investigators reported that the Toyota failed to yield the right of way while turning left onto Post Office Road and struck the Volkswagen. Hill was riding in the Volkswagen’s front right passenger seat.

All five people were transported to the hospital following the collision. Hill later died from her injuries. She was the only occupant reported deceased, and the provided reports did not describe the other occupants’ injuries or conditions.
