Cumberland County, NC (May 17, 2024) – Local news outlets report that multiple lanes on Interstate 95 northbound were closed following a two-vehicle crash Friday morning. Just before 11 a.m., Wade Community Fire Department and Eastover Fire Rescue responded to the area of I-95 near mile marker 61.

First responders stated that the crash involved a Tesla and a Nissan, scattering significant debris across the roadway. This forced crews to close the interstate temporarily. Additionally, a damaged guardrail and a car battery were found about 300 feet from the crashed vehicles.

Investigators explained that the Nissan hit the end of the guardrail, causing it to spin in front of the Tesla. The Tesla then collided with the Nissan before hitting another section of the guardrail. The extent of injuries from the crash has not been disclosed.

Crews have since cleared enough debris to reopen one lane of traffic.
