Moore County, NC (December 21, 2023) - According to local news sources, Thursday night witnessed a series of unfortunate events as two separate highway collisions occurred in Moore County, leading to multiple injuries. The first accident took place at the intersection of Highway 211 and Highway 73 in West End just before 7 p.m. A collision occurred between a Toyota sedan, which was attempting a left turn onto Highway 73 from Highway 211, and a Chevy pickup truck. This resulted in serious injuries, with a female from the Chevy being airlifted to a trauma center by AirLife North Carolina. The Toyota driver was cited for failure to yield, with the possibility of facing additional charges. The accident caused Highway 73 to be closed between Highway 211 and Knox Lane, and one lane of Highway 211 was also shut down during the investigation.

Shortly after this incident, around 7:30 p.m., another crash was reported at the intersection of Highway 24/27 and Pine Grove Church Road near Robbins. First responders found two heavily damaged cars, a Kia and a Honda Accord, off the road in a tree line. The crash involved multiple occupants, including an infant in the Kia, all of whom were transported to a hospital. The injuries ranged from minor to serious, with one occupant from the Kia requiring air transportation by UNC Carolina Air Care to a trauma center. Initial investigations were inconclusive about the cause of the accident. However, it was later determined that the Kia, traveling north on Big Oak Church Road, failed to yield while crossing Highway 24/27 and was subsequently T-boned by the westbound Honda. The driver of the Kia was cited for failure to yield.

The highway was reduced to one lane as first responders worked to clear the scene. The Sandhills Sentinel reached out to troopers on Friday morning for updates on both accidents. The incidents underline the critical importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations to ensure road safety. Both accidents are under further investigation by the N.C. Highway Patrol.
