Mooresville, NC (October 29, 2026) - A tractor-trailer crash caused extensive southbound traffic backups on I-77 in Mooresville Thursday morning. Whether anyone was injured was not reported.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. just past Exit 33 for Williamson Road in Iredell County, North Carolina. Traffic cameras showed the tractor-trailer stationary in the far-left general-purpose lane beside the toll lane, with several emergency vehicles nearby.
NCDOT reported lane closures. First responders closed the toll lane and two of the three general-purpose lanes, leaving one lane available to traffic.
By 8:30 a.m., the backup stretched nearly 15 miles, reaching beyond Troutman as drivers traveled toward Charlotte. All lanes reopened by 10:15 a.m.
Understanding the Sequence of a Truck Collision
A traffic camera image of a stopped truck shows conditions at one moment. Earlier footage may reveal how vehicles approached, changed lanes or came to a stop. Comparing those moments can help distinguish the collision itself from the positions vehicles occupied during the emergency response.
The time and viewing angle of footage matter, especially on an interstate with several lanes and moving traffic. A long backup describes the disruption to the road; it does not identify which driver, if any, caused the crash. If you were involved in a collision, you can discuss your truck accident claim with an attorney to understand how the available evidence relates to your circumstances.
Questions After a Truck Collision
Rosensteel Fleishman can review a truck collision’s circumstances and explain potential legal options for someone affected by it. That review can consider both how the collision happened and any resulting losses, rather than relying on the length of the traffic delay to describe its impact.
