Charlotte, NC (July 06, 2026) - Authorities confirmed through local reports and police statements that a 53-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a tractor-trailer in southeast Charlotte on Monday morning.

The crash was reported at approximately 8:01 a.m. in the 7300 block of E. Independence Boulevard. Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Charlotte Fire, and MEDIC responded to the scene after receiving a report involving a pedestrian and an 18-wheeler near a loading dock area.

When first responders arrived, they found a white tractor-trailer and its driver at the scene. Behind the trailer, officers located Idrisu Issaku, 53, with life-threatening injuries. MEDIC transported Issaku to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Local reports described the location as a shopping center near East Independence Boulevard and Village Lake Drive.
