Hertford, NC (May 27, 2024) - According to local news reports, the North Carolina Highway Patrol (NCHP) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Perquimans County. The incident occurred between 9 p.m. on Sunday and 6:15 a.m. on Monday, when the body of 61-year-old Cecil Beasley Jr. was discovered on Grubb Street near Don Juan Road, just outside Hertford.

Trooper C. Anderson reported that Beasley was last seen alive around 9 p.m. on Sunday, walking northwesterly on West Grubb Street, approximately 50 to 100 feet from where his body was later found.
