Wallace, NC (July 04, 2026) - According to local news sources and police statements, a man was hit and killed Saturday night after attending a Fourth of July fireworks celebration near the Wallace-Pender Airport.
The incident happened at the Wallace Moose Lodge. Wallace Police Chief Jimmy Crayton said the man was sitting in a chair in front of his vehicle when the driver of a pickup truck did not see him and struck him.
Local reports indicated that the man was positioned directly in front of the pickup truck as the driver began to leave the event. Police said the man later died from his injuries.
Authorities had not released the names of the man who died or the driver at the time of the reports. Chief Crayton said the Wallace Police Department consulted with the Pender County District Attorney's Office, and no criminal charges will be filed based on the investigation.
How Accident Reviews May Move Forward After a Wallace Crash
Incidents like this can raise difficult questions about how the facts are reviewed after an unexpected death. Even when police describe an event as accidental, the review process may still involve witness accounts, scene details, vehicle positioning, visibility, and available documentation.
After a car accident, the circumstances surrounding what happened may be reviewed in several stages. Families may want to understand how reports, insurance records, and other materials fit together, and a motor vehicle accident lawyer may help explain how those pieces are commonly evaluated.
Clear documentation often makes the process easier to follow. Police findings, medical records, photographs, insurance communications, and statements from people who were present can all help create a more complete picture of what occurred.
What Families In Wallace May Face After A Fatal Accident
