Richlands, NC (August 21, 2026) - According to local news reports and statements from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a head-on crash on U.S. 258 near Union Chapel Church Road claimed the life of Lloyd Stumpf on Friday night.

Troopers responded at about 8:18 p.m. and reported that 24-year-old Angel Roblero-Castro of Jacksonville was traveling toward Richlands with a passenger when his vehicle crossed left of center and went through the center turn lane. Court release documents stated that officials requested a review by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security after the magistrate could not determine his immigration status.
