Charlotte, NC (July 31, 2026) - Based on reports from local authorities and news sources, 53-year-old Kenneth Stiltner sustained life-threatening injuries in a collision involving a bicycle and a GMC Acadia on Albemarle Road. The crash occurred at approximately 4:50 a.m. in the 8800 block of Albemarle Road near Hollirose Drive in east Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers arrived and found Stiltner lying in the roadway. A GMC Acadia with front-end damage was located near his bicycle. MEDIC transported Stiltner to a hospital for treatment, while members of the Charlotte Fire Department also responded.

According to the preliminary investigation, the GMC driver was traveling west in the left westbound lane of Albemarle Road. Stiltner was riding east in that same westbound lane when the head-on collision occurred. The impact ejected him from his bicycle.

Police reported that Stiltner was not wearing a helmet and that his bicycle did not have a front headlight at the time of the crash. Detectives with CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit investigated the scene, and Crime Scene Search personnel processed the area and collected physical evidence.

Stiltner died on Tuesday, August 11, from injuries sustained in the collision. His next of kin was notified. No charges had been filed, and the investigation remained active.
