North Wilkesboro, NC (August 20, 2026) - According to local reports and statements from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Johnny Lee Jordan, 73, of Cooleemee, died following a three-vehicle collision on NC-115 near Laurel Ridge Drive in the Hunting Creek community.

Troopers responded at approximately 3:56 p.m. to the crash on Statesville Road. Reports indicate Jordan was operating a 2012 Harley Davidson Tri Glide Ultra southbound on NC-115 when he struck the rear of a southbound 2003 Toyota Corolla that had stopped while its driver waited to make a left turn into a private driveway.

After the initial impact, the motorcycle crossed the double yellow line and collided with a northbound 2022 Jeep Gladiator Sport driven by Steven Alexander Houston, 40, of Wilkesboro. Jordan was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Queenie Johnson Transeau, 73, of North Wilkesboro, was driving the Toyota. She was transported to Wilkes Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Houston was not reported to have been injured. Authorities stated that Transeau and Houston were wearing seat belts and that Jordan was wearing a Department of Transportation approved helmet.

The initial investigation did not indicate that speed or impairment contributed to the collision. NC-115 was closed for about two hours while troopers conducted the on scene investigation. The Highway Patrol reported that no charges would be filed.
