Duck, NC (June 04, 2026) - According to local reports and police statements, the Duck Police Department investigated a head-on collision that occurred Thursday morning on Duck Road just south of the Four Seasons subdivision.

Police, fire crews, and Dare County EMS responded to the crash at approximately 9:57 a.m. Reports stated that Matthew Ryan Meade of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, was traveling northbound on Duck Road when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a minivan driven by William Benjamin Clinton of Barnesville, North Carolina.

Occupants of both vehicles were evaluated at the scene for injuries. One occupant of the southbound minivan was transported by Dare County EMS to The Outer Banks Health Hospital in Nags Head for further medical evaluation and treatment. Local reports also described significant front-end damage to the minivan.

Duck Road remained closed until approximately 11:45 a.m. while responders cleared the scene and removed the vehicles involved in the collision. Police charged Meade with failing to maintain lane control. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Duck Police Department.

How Crash Reports Help Shape Accident Reviews

Collisions reported in a local community often lead to several layers of review after the scene has been cleared. Investigators may look at vehicle positions, roadway conditions, statements from those involved, and any available photographs or reports to better understand how the crash unfolded.

In a car accident involving reported injuries, medical records often become an important part of reviewing injury related losses and treatment needs. When questions arise about insurance paperwork, medical documentation, or claim timing, an injured person may choose to speak with a car accident attorney about your claim to better understand how those records may fit into the process.

A complete review can take time because each detail may affect how responsibility, damages, and insurance coverage are evaluated. Even when an initial charge is reported, the broader process may still involve additional documentation, follow up care, and communication between insurers and other parties.

Practical Help After A Duck Car Accident

After a serious collision, the investigation is only one part of what families and injured people may have to manage. Medical appointments, vehicle damage, insurance questions, and missed work can create practical concerns that need careful attention. In some cases, mediation may provide a structured way for the parties to discuss responsibility, damages, and possible resolution without immediately moving into a more formal dispute. As Attorney Matthew Fleishman has said, “Accountability matters, but so does making sure every person has a fair chance to be heard. A steady process can help people focus on the facts and make informed decisions about what comes next.”
