Fayetteville, NC (May 29, 2024) - According to local news sources, a tragic accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the death of one woman and injuries to three others. The Fayetteville Police Department reported that the incident took place around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Robeson Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Preliminary investigations reveal that a black Dodge Charger, driven by 24-year-old Natawn McIntyre of Fayetteville, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Ram 5500 truck. The impact caused the Charger to catch fire, trapping the passenger, 25-year-old Jermeia Washington, inside the vehicle. Unfortunately, Washington was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the crash and the subsequent fire.

McIntyre suffered serious burn injuries and was transported to Chapel Hill for treatment. The driver and passenger of the Ram 5500 were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have indicated that McIntyre's careless and reckless driving is believed to be a contributing factor in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Officer J. Deal at 910-584-3692.
