Angier, NC (May 20, 2026) - According to preliminary information from officials and local reports, one person died and another person was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash early Wednesday in Harnett County near Angier.

The crash was reported along Oak Grove Church Road near Owens Road. Officials said a Nissan Pathfinder was traveling north on Oak Grove Church Road when the vehicle crossed the center line, went off the left side of the road, and struck a mailbox. Investigators said the driver then overcorrected, and the vehicle overturned multiple times.

Two people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Troopers said both occupants were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. A man died from his injuries, and a woman was taken to the hospital with serious, life threatening injuries.

Officials have not released the name of the man who died. Troopers said his identity was being withheld while family members were notified. Investigators also said they were still working to determine which occupant was driving at the time of the crash.

Oak Grove Church Road was closed between Royster Lane and Owens Road for several hours while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. The roadway reopened by about 5 a.m.
