Johnston County, NC (August 15, 2026) - Local reports indicate that a Dunn man died and a passenger suffered serious injuries in an early morning crash on NC-242 in southern Johnston County.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the 6000 block of NC-242 South at approximately 4:17 a.m. Troopers reported that a Dodge Ram was traveling north at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center line and entered a ditch.

The pickup truck became airborne and overturned before stopping on its roof. The driver, 33-year-old Jesus Aguirre of Dakota Lane in Dunn, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, identified as 43-year-old Jessica Williams of Dunn, sustained serious injuries. Emergency personnel transported Williams to WakeMed, where she was listed in stable condition Saturday morning.

The State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal collision. No additional findings or charges were reported.
