Cameron, NC (June 8, 2024) - Local news outlets report a two-vehicle collision in Cameron on Saturday morning that resulted in injuries and temporarily shut down one lane of N.C. 24-27. The accident occurred near the intersection of Oakley Road at approximately 10:30 a.m.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the incident involved a Buick passenger car and a Toyota truck. The Buick was traveling west towards Carthage when the female driver attempted to turn left into a driveway. Simultaneously, a Toyota truck, driven by a male, tried to pass in the left lane, leading to a collision.

As a result of the crash, the Buick ended up blocking one lane of travel, while the Toyota came to rest off the roadway near a fence. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with the front passenger wheel of the Toyota being ripped off. The female driver of the Buick, who was the only occupant, was transported to Moore Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver of the Toyota did not require transport.

Emergency response units from the Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and N.C. Highway Patrol were on the scene, investigating and managing traffic. One lane of N.C. 24-27 remained closed while crews cleared the wreckage.
