Wilmington, NC (August 21, 2026) - Local reports and police statements indicate that a bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle late Friday night on Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington.

Wilmington police responded at about 11:40 p.m. to a collision involving a bicyclist in the 2100 block of Carolina Beach Road. The bicyclist, 69-year-old Christopher Johnston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the driver as 38-year-old Tierra Latrice Blackston of Raleigh. Authorities reported that Blackston was traveling north on Carolina Beach Road when the collision occurred. Investigators said she was driving while impaired and while her driver's license was revoked.
