Angier, NC (June 19, 2026) - Local reports indicate that a young child was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Friday night in Harnett County. Emergency crews were dispatched to Mabry Road after reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.
Initial reports placed the response in the 1800 block of Mabry Road, while later local reporting identified the scene as the 800 block of Mabry Road. Emergency responders were dispatched at 8:04 p.m. after radio traffic indicated that a two-year-old child had been struck at a home off the roadway.
According to local reports from the scene, the child’s father was leaving the home when he accidentally backed over the toddler. Buies Creek Fire Department and Harnett County EMS responded, along with paramedics from Buies Creek and Angier. About seven minutes after dispatch, Buies Creek Fire Chief Josh Sorrell reported that the child was in traumatic arrest and that CPR was in progress.
Resuscitation efforts continued at the scene and during transport. The child was taken to the emergency department at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, where he was later pronounced dead.
Because the incident occurred away from the roadway, deputies with the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office investigated the scene. No additional information about potential findings from the investigation was immediately available in the local reports.
How Vehicle Incidents Are Reviewed After A Serious Injury
A reported vehicle incident can lead to a detailed review of what happened, especially when a child or pedestrian is seriously injured. Investigators often look at the location, the position of the vehicle, witness statements, emergency response records, and whether visibility or property conditions may have played a role.
In a car accident investigation, early information can affect how insurance questions and claims are handled later. Details such as photographs, statements, medical records, and timelines may help explain how the incident occurred, which is why families sometimes look for information from a t-bone auto accident lawyer while trying to understand what records may matter.
When responsibility is reviewed in North Carolina, the process may include questions about who had control of the vehicle, what could reasonably be seen, and whether any other factors contributed to the incident. These reviews are often careful and fact specific, particularly when a crash happens on private property rather than a public road.
