Pitt County, NC (July 03, 2026) - Initial reports from local news sources and law enforcement statements confirm that a fatal crash occurred shortly after noon at the intersection of County Home Road and Warren Jones Road in Pitt County.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a 2023 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling south on Warren Jones Road at about 12:12 p.m. when it allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection. The pickup driver was identified in reports as 33-year-old Jaime Santiago Corona of Ayden. Some reports referred to him as Jaime Santiago. Authorities said he was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, failure to stop for a stop sign, careless and reckless driving, and driving while license revoked.
