Charlotte, NC (October 14, 2026) - One person sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital after being struck by a vehicle in east Charlotte, North Carolina, MEDIC said.
The collision happened just before 8 a.m. Wednesday at Central Avenue and North Sharon Amity Road in Mecklenburg County.
A damaged mini bike lay in the roadway. Responding police officers photographed the scene and collected evidence. Several lane closures disrupted traffic at the intersection during the investigation.
A Precise Time and Location Can Help Preserve Useful Footage
At a busy intersection, a request for video is more useful when it identifies a particular approach and a narrow time window. For this collision, the reported time just before 8 a.m. and the intersection of Central Avenue and North Sharon Amity Road provide a starting point. They do not establish which direction anyone traveled. That distinction matters when deciding whether a camera could have captured the approach, the impact or only the aftermath.
If you witnessed an incident, write down where you were standing or driving and which way you were looking. Someone at one corner may see a different part of the intersection than a person waiting across the road. Describe your view in those terms rather than assuming that everyone nearby could see the same movements. Keep any original dashcam recording, including the minutes around the event, instead of saving only a short clip.
Camera timestamps also need context. A clock displayed on a recording may differ from the actual time. Preserve the original file and note any clock discrepancy you know about without altering the recording. This gives someone reviewing the footage a way to compare it with the reported time while retaining the material needed to check that comparison.
Nearby businesses or other drivers may have recordings, but their presence and availability must be checked. The report does not identify a camera that captured this crash. A request should identify the date, approximate time and relevant location, and ask whether footage can be preserved. Avoid demanding that a business interpret what happened or identify a person from an uncertain image. A pedestrian accident lawyer can help assess what material may be relevant and how to request it.
The damaged mini bike observed at the scene illustrates why context matters. An aftermath image can show an object's location without showing how it arrived there or whether the injured person was riding it. Earlier footage, if available, could answer a different question. Keep the observation and the unanswered question separate when describing the evidence.
Bring Specific Evidence Questions to a Consultation
Someone recovering from serious injuries may be unable to contact potential witnesses or recording owners personally. A family member helping organize information can note who was contacted, when the request was made and what response was received. Preserve those responses with the original files so that another person can understand what has already been requested.
When speaking with Rosensteel Fleishman, explain the evidence concern alongside the treatment and expense concerns. For example, identifying a possible recording that has not yet been obtained gives the conversation a concrete next question. The firm can discuss whether an injury claim may be available and what additional information could help assess it, without requiring an injured person to reconstruct the entire collision first.
