Benson, NC (December 02, 2025) - Local reports indicate that a Benson woman has been charged in connection with a head-on collision on U.S-301 that resulted in the death of a 73-year-old man and left another person seriously injured.

According to statements from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 2 p.m. on December 6, 2025, on U.S-301 near Hodges Chapel Road, just south of Benson and inside Harnett County. Authorities reported that 38-year-old Sharee Latrice McCall of Sycamore Court was driving a green Tesla when the vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a red Ram pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.

Investigators determined that the Tesla was traveling approximately 65 mph at the time of the collision, while the Ram pickup was traveling about 55 mph. A passenger in the pickup, identified as Danny Wood of Benson, was killed in the crash on his birthday. Mr. Wood’s son, who was driving the pickup, sustained serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment.

On February 4, McCall was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, driving left of center, unsafe passing, and exceeding the posted speed limit. She was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in Harnett County District Court on March 16. The crash remains part of an active investigation, and officials have not released additional details at this time.

How Accident Investigations And Liability Reviews Typically Progress

Serious crashes reported in the community often lead to continued review long after the initial emergency response has concluded. In situations involving fatalities or significant injuries, investigators carefully examine vehicle positioning, roadway markings, speed calculations, and witness statements to clarify how the event unfolded.

This structured review process can play an important role in determining responsibility and understanding how traffic laws may have been applied. Medical documentation, repair assessments, and collision reconstruction findings are frequently considered as part of a broader evaluation that may influence insurance claims and any related legal proceedings.

Understanding Long Term Recovery After Serious Car Accidents

Recovery following a major car accident can extend well beyond the first days or weeks after the collision. Physical injuries may require ongoing treatment, follow-up appointments, and adjustments to daily routines. Emotional recovery can also take time as individuals adapt to new limitations or process the impact of a traumatic event.

Managing long term healing may involve:

  • Continuing physical therapy or rehabilitative care
  • Attending follow-up medical evaluations
  • Monitoring chronic pain or mobility concerns
  • Adjusting work or school responsibilities
  • Coordinating with insurance providers regarding treatment coverage

Long term outcomes often depend on consistent medical documentation and steady communication between healthcare providers and insurers. Clear records can help establish how injuries evolve over time and whether additional care may be required.

For residents in Benson, NC, understanding these recovery patterns is particularly relevant following serious roadway incidents in the area. The Role Of Medical Documentation During Extended Recovery

Consistent documentation can help demonstrate how symptoms develop or improve over time, which may be important when evaluating insurance claims or future care needs.

Emotional resilience also develops gradually. Individuals recovering from serious crashes often benefit from steady routines, supportive medical guidance, and realistic expectations about recovery timelines.

Finding Clarity After A Car Accident In Benson

As insurance adjusters, investigators, and medical providers become involved, understanding each step of the process can help make an otherwise stressful situation feel more manageable. Clear communication about coverage limits, documentation requirements, and potential timelines often provides greater stability for individuals and families navigating the aftermath of a collision.

Learning how different policy terms and liability findings may influence a claim can also reduce uncertainty. What Insurance And Injury Claim Reviews May Involve

In many cases, accident investigations begin with police findings and expand to include insurance evaluations, medical record reviews, and property damage assessments. Each step contributes to a clearer understanding of how responsibility is determined and how compensation may be calculated under applicable policies.

Careful review of evidence, statements, and treatment records can shape the direction of a claim. Having a structured approach to these evaluations often supports more informed decision making throughout the process.
