Gastonia, NC (November 05, 2026) - At least one person was injured and taken to a hospital after a crash on I-85 southbound in Gastonia on Thursday morning, according to a Gaston County official. The collision occurred just south of Exit 19 in Gaston County, North Carolina. The severity of the injuries was not specified.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation initially reported that two southbound lanes were closed. Crews later closed the entire southbound highway.

The southbound lanes reopened at approximately 6:45 a.m. At 6:50 a.m., traffic was still backed up toward McAdenville. Northbound traffic toward Charlotte also slowed.

Injury Losses Beyond Missed Pay

At least one person was taken to a hospital after the November 5 crash on I-85 in Gastonia. For someone receiving care after a collision, lost earnings are not the only potential injury loss. Accident-related medical expenses and pain and suffering are separate from lost wages; they do not depend on whether the injury interrupted a paycheck.

Continuing to earn the same amount does not erase treatment costs or describe how an injury feels. A car collision lawyer can assess those concerns even when there is no wage-loss component. Whether compensation is available depends on legal responsibility and applicable coverage, not simply the presence or absence of missed pay.

Considering an Injury Claim Without Lost Wages

If you received hospital care after a car accident but did not lose earnings, a legal conversation can help clarify whether a claim may address your treatment expenses and the impact of the injury. The absence of missed pay need not be the reason you set those concerns aside.
