New Bern, NC (August 26, 2026) - Local news reports and police statements indicate that a late night traffic stop led to a vehicle pursuit, multiple property damage collisions, and the arrest of a Maple Hill man.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., a New Bern police officer attempted to stop a black BMW X5 for an alleged traffic violation on US-70. Police said the driver did not stop and abruptly took the Pembroke exit ramp before continuing along First Street toward Neuse Boulevard.
