Dunn, NC (August 18, 2026) - Local reports indicate that a 35-year-old man died and a 17-year-old girl suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 401 near Ballard Road.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the collision was reported at approximately 2:32 p.m. Allen Michael Brown, 35, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup south on U.S. 401 while the 17-year-old was driving a 2023 Mazda SUV north on the highway.

Authorities said the Chevrolet crossed left of center and struck the Mazda head-on. The pickup overturned after the impact and came to rest on its side in the roadway. The Mazda traveled off the right side of U.S. 401 and stopped in a ditch. Troopers reported that Brown was killed and the teenage driver was seriously injured.
