Ayden, NC (August 17, 2026) - Local reports indicate that one person was injured in a three-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer near the intersection of NC-11 and Littlefield Road.

The crash was reported at about 6:40 a.m. near Ayden. According to police, a tractor-trailer connected to a metal recycling company overturned at the intersection and caught fire. Two other vehicles were involved.

Officials reported that one person suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The northbound lanes of NC-11 reopened before the southbound lanes, which remained closed while crews removed the damaged vehicles and debris.

The highway fully reopened Friday afternoon. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
