Greensboro, NC (August 09, 2026) - According to local news reports and police statements, 56-year-old Greensboro resident David Len McDaniel died following a motorcycle crash on southbound US-29 at approximately 9:07 p.m. The collision occurred between Textile Drive and East Wendover Avenue.

Police reported that McDaniel was riding a Harley-Davidson beside another vehicle when both traveled through standing water. McDaniel was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the roadway, where he was struck by a passing vehicle. He died from his injuries at the scene.

The driver who struck McDaniel remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities said neither speed nor impairment was suspected. Guilford County EMS reportedly dispatched two ambulances to the scene.

US-29 remained closed for several hours while traffic was redirected to Summit Avenue. The Greensboro Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit responded and continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Anyone with information was asked to contact Greensboro and Guilford Crime Stoppers.

How Motorcycle Crash Claims Are Evaluated

A fatal collision of this kind may be reviewed from several different perspectives. Police investigators typically examine the roadway, vehicle movements, witness accounts, weather conditions, and available physical evidence. Insurance companies may conduct separate reviews when determining coverage and whether another party bears civil responsibility.

When standing water or changing road conditions contribute to a crash, investigators may also consider visibility, traffic patterns, vehicle control, and whether the roadway was reasonably maintained. The conclusions reached during a police investigation can be important, but an insurance or civil claim may require additional evidence and follow a different process.

Although a motorcycle collision presents different risks than a typical car accident, learning how evidence, insurance coverage, and damages are evaluated can make the claims process easier to understand. A motorcycle accident compensation attorney can review the circumstances and explain how the available facts may affect a potential claim.
