Wake Forest, NC (July 24, 2026) - According to preliminary information from local reports and fire officials, two teenage girls were seriously injured when a minivan struck the golf cart they were riding in on Friday afternoon.

The collision was reported at approximately 4:50 p.m. near the intersection of Stony Hill Road and Stonewyck Lane in northern Wake County, close to Wake Forest and the Hasentree Golf Club. Officials said the golf cart was crossing Stony Hill Road when it was hit by the van.

Both girls were transported to Duke Hospital as trauma patients with traumatic injuries. The minivan driver, an adult man, was not reported injured. Emergency crews closed portions of Stony Hill Road for several hours while they responded to the crash and cleared the scene.

Authorities had not announced charges or determined what caused the collision. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigation remained ongoing.

How Car Accidents Are Reviewed in North Carolina

A serious traffic event can lead to a detailed review of what happened before, during, and after the impact. Investigators may examine vehicle positions, road conditions, witness accounts, photographs, available video, and physical evidence from the scene. Medical records and insurance information may also become important as those involved work through the aftermath.

In a car accident involving a golf cart or another low speed vehicle, the full effect of an injury may not be known immediately. Follow-up care can document how symptoms affect daily activities, school, work, and future treatment needs. An auto accident injury lawyer can help explain how injury information and accident evidence may be reviewed in a civil claim.

North Carolina follows a contributory negligence rule, which can affect whether an injured person may recover damages. Because the facts of a crash matter closely under this rule, questions about right of way, visibility, vehicle operation, and roadway use may receive careful attention. Insurance carriers and others evaluating a claim commonly compare the available evidence before reaching conclusions about responsibility.

Insurance Questions After a Wake Forest, NC Car Accident

After a collision, communication with insurers often begins while injured people and their families are still trying to understand the situation. Adjusters may request statements, medical documentation, repair information, and details about how the crash occurred. Keeping records organized can make it easier to respond accurately and understand what information is being considered.

“Small details can change how an insurance company views a claim, especially when there are different accounts of what happened,” Attorney Matthew Fleishman says. “A careful review of the records can help people understand the questions that still need answers.”

Reviewing Claim Options in Wake Forest, NC

The strength of a claim often depends on the quality and consistency of its supporting evidence. Records from emergency responders, photographs, witness information, medical evaluations, and insurance correspondence can each help create a clearer picture of the incident and its effects.

People affected by a collision may benefit from learning how those records relate to available options before making significant decisions. A review can also identify missing information, address disputed facts, and explain how North Carolina rules may apply to the circumstances.
