Surry County, NC (July 11, 2026) - Local news reports state that two people were killed and another person was injured in a collision on U.S.-52 near Mount Airy.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 9:28 p.m. at the intersection of U.S.-52 and Greenhill Road. Investigators reported that Ted William Beesley of Mount Airy was driving a 2017 Ford Escape south on U.S.-52 and attempting to turn left onto Greenhill Road.
Troopers said the Ford failed to yield to a northbound 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan, and the two vehicles collided within the intersection. Both vehicles left the roadway following the impact.
Ted William Beesley and his passenger, Victoria Ellen Beesley, also of Mount Airy, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen was transported to Atrium Health with injuries described as not life threatening.
Investigators do not believe impairment contributed to the collision. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities reported that charges may be pending.
What Usually Happens After A Fatal Intersection Crash
Beyond the initial response at the scene, a fatal collision can lead to several separate reviews. Law enforcement may continue gathering witness statements, vehicle information, roadway evidence, photographs, and medical findings before completing its investigation. Insurance companies may conduct their own reviews using police records, damage assessments, coverage documents, and statements from the people involved.
A car accident involving deaths and injuries can also require communication among medical providers, insurers, investigators, and surviving family members. An intersection auto accident lawyer may help explain how those records are collected and how insurance issues are addressed when several people and policies are involved.
Claims may change as additional facts become available. Final investigative reports, medical documentation, insurance limits, and evidence about how the collision occurred can affect how a claim is reviewed and whether further action is considered.
When Families Consider Professional Help After A Car Accident
Families often begin looking for outside input when insurance questions become difficult to manage or when they are unsure which records must be preserved. Fatal car accident cases may involve estate documents, medical expenses, funeral costs, vehicle damage, insurance coverage, and questions about financial losses affecting surviving relatives.
Insurance adjusters commonly compare police findings, witness accounts, photographs, medical records, and vehicle damage before making decisions. Families who need help understanding that process may choose to find a car accident attorney who can review the available information and explain how the different parts of a claim fit together.
The complexity of a case often depends on the number of vehicles, the available insurance policies, the severity of the injuries, and whether the investigation remains open. Reviewing those factors can help a family determine whether the matter can be handled through routine insurance procedures or requires a more detailed evaluation.
Support For Surry County Families After A Fatal Car Accident
After the investigation develops, settlement discussions may focus on documented losses, available insurance coverage, responsibility for the collision, and the long term effect on the family. Further action may be considered when important facts remain disputed or when an insurance proposal does not account for the full record. Attorney Matthew Fleishman has explained the firm’s communication philosophy this way: “Trust grows when families receive consistent information and understand what is happening at each stage.”
