Fayetteville, NC (May 18, 2024) - According to local news sources, a motorcyclist lost his life in a crash involving an SUV on Saturday. Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the scene at the intersection of Murchison Road and Blan Street shortly after 4:30 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Carl Roye, a 33-year-old Fayetteville resident, was riding a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle southbound on Murchison Road when he collided with a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban. The SUV, driven by 66-year-old Bill Gomez, also of Fayetteville, was turning onto Murchison Road at the time of the collision.

Roye was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the SUV was not injured in the accident. The incident is under active investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Officer C. Lewis at (910) 818-1872.
